Ireland day 3 (Day 19)

Today was our free day in Ireland, though we had to be back at the hotel at 4:30 for our flight back to England. I woke up at about 8am so I could have one last amazing breakfast. The Hilton provided some great food. I then went upstairs to try and figure out what I wanted to do that day. I wanted to go to Titanica, the exhibit on the Titanic but according to the map it was far away. I really didn't want to walk a long way and risk not getting back on time. Later I would see it wasn't far at all. That didn't make me happy. I had a good day even without seeing it. Andrea and I discussed what to do for awhile. Laura, Andrea, and Danielle wanted to go shopping. I decided to join them. At twelve we made our way downstairs and checked out of the hotel. I was sad so see it go, but also excited to leave because it didn't have free internet. We started to walk toward Victoria Square. It was absolutely glorious in the day time. The sun was shining and warm. It was a perfect day. We went into this one store that had the most amazing design. The wallpaper was great. In one of the dressing rooms they had a bunch of different colored light fixtures and the curtains were a dark turquoise. It was quite impressive. Everywhere we looked we saw something we loved. They even took coat racks and put them on the walls. It was interesting how much these retail stores took interior design into account. In the U.S. They try and make it look nice but never as much as they do here in the UK. In the UK they focus as much on the clothes as they do the store's appearance. After a couple of these stores we decided we need a coffee break. So we went to Costa. I wish this place was in the States because holy cow, it was really good. It was really yummy. I enjoyed more girl chat. We just talked about boys and the interior design program. My Costa iced coffee was gone in probably 15 minutes while it took Laura 30-45 minutes to finish hers. It's a problem I have. After our little break at Costa we headed down to go to Poundland, that store is amazing, but we walked by H&M. Of course they had to be having a sale. The girls rushed in and I started to get nervous about the time. I really didn’t want to be late. They did have some cute stuff on sale. The other girls tried things on and I believe Andrea and Laura bought items. Andrea bought a really great sweater. It was super cute. After shopping, we went to the very top of Victoria Square where the dome is. Holy crap, it is so pretty up there. I was amazed at the view. You could see so much! We took a picture break and marveled at the green roofs! We were so happy that the building was trying to be energy efficient. We all thought, oh Susie and Darrin would be so happy to see this. Then we caught the elevator down. After seeing the view we headed out into the sunshine. We saw some of the other groups and confirmed we had about an hour more before we needed to get back. They took our advise and had gone to Poundland earlier. So we then said see you later and headed to Poundland. The reason this store is so amazing is everything is a pound! And you can get a lot. There are Toblerone bars that normally cost like 4 pounds for one! And it isn't a small bar this is a large one. It is crazy the deals. Andrea and I found it the day of our dinner adventure. All the girls were in awe and surprised at the amount you got for your money. I wish they had a Poundland everywhere! I really need to find a Euroland... if such a thing exists. After buying probably too much food at Poundland we moved on to a gift store so we could get something to remember Ireland by. This was one large store. We found the jewelry section and I quickly found a ring I recognized. It was two hands holding a heart and on the heart a crown sat. If you are a “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” fan you should recognize it. It is the ring Angel gives her. So there are a couple of meanings for this ring. If you wear it on your right hand with the heart pointing outwards it means you are open to love. If you wear it on your right hand with the heart pointing inwards it means you have found love. If you wear it on your left hand with the heart pointing inwards it means you have found love and you will never be separated. I had to get one, so I bought the cheapest one. To me it was the perfect souvenir, because I love the show and it is something that comes from Ireland. After visiting the gift store we walked back to our hotel. It was sad to leave Ireland. I liked it a lot. It was green and full of a calmer feel. I will always want to go back to Ireland. It its such a relaxing place.
We all met at the hotel where people were trying to stuff their souvenirs in their one bag. On the flight to Ireland we were only allowed one carry on, and so people didn't think they could have a second one on this flight. Then Susie went around telling everyone they could have two. Everyone gave a sigh of relief. We then all climbed on the bus. We arrived at the airport and got our tickets with no hassles. Then we all headed to security. Almost all of us had to get our bags searched. Laura unfortunately bought a jam that she couldn't take back. I had to get mine looked at because I bought some batteries, because my camera eats them like candy. But everything was good with my bag and I continued to our gate which was gate A. We all looked at the different items in the shops. There was this blanket that would have been perfect for my mom's couch. Unfortunately it was 75 pounds, and as much as I love my mom that was really expensive. I decided to not get it. Then we got on our plane. The plane ride seemed ten times quicker then the other. Then again we weren't sitting on the tarmac for an hour either. We arrived back into London. It was a nice feeling to be familiar with a place. I quickly found my way back to our flat. I was dreading the cold shower. Laura, Danielle, Andrea, and I decided to make dinner that night. We had pasta but needed to buy some sauce. So we went to the corner store and bought what we needed. It was so good. We spent that night blogging and eating our meal. Then Laura skyped her mom and we all said hi. We talked about leaving London, and how we would miss it. And we were right, we do miss it. The night ended then and we all headed back to our rooms. After that I tried to get a little more organized. I decided it was time to sleep because tomorrow as the last day in London and I wanted to enjoy it.

Paris day 24- FontaineBleau and Vaux le Vicomte

Today was a late day. We were given the morning to ourselves we just had to be back and ready at 1pm ready to go. So for the morning I decided to try and get caught up on some blogs. I got up a little early and ate some breakfast. After that I finished getting ready for the day and grabbed my laptop to head down to the lobby and work on blogs. Ireland and my need for sleep put me behind on my blogs. So I sat in the hot lobby typing away. At one point a family came down the stairs and elevator. The kid decided to run down the stairs while the parents took the elevator. The kid won the race and I noticed he was wearing a Sharks Sweatshirt, for those of you who don't like hockey it is the San Jose hockey team. So when the parents came down they said hi and asked if they were from California? They said yes and how did I know and I pointed to the sweatshirt and told them I loved hockey. Then I told them my team was the Red Wings. They are from Detroit and the Sharks have a rivalry. We s...

Paris day 27- Best day in Paris so far!

Best day in Paris so far!      Elyse and I left at 930 for the Catacombs, and who should I see in line? My senior year French 2 Student teacher, Mr. Schelagel! I feel bad, but I don't know how to spell his name. I was shocked. Who expects to see someone from Boise, Idaho who was your teacher traveling abroad? He was on the phone and asked for me to hold on for a second. Elyse headed to the back of the line to hold our spot. I waited as he got off the phone. It was crazy. I couldn't get over the fact that I was seeing someone I knew in Europe! He introduced me to his wife and two other family members. He asked why I was in Europe and I told him I was studying and told him about Utah State and the Interior Design program. I also told him about how my french has declined after he asked me about it. But he totally understood. He understood that after a year with speaking no french and only having two years of schooling it would decline. We talked about what to do in...

Dieting, How I Loath You

Dieting. It's torture. But it is torture we willing put ourselves through. As it becomes swimsuit season women start to worry about fitting into a bikini and worry about how good we will look. I fall victim to it. Well I fall into it all the time, not just swimsuit season. I worked really hard last winter/ spring when I took off a semester. I hit the gym and watched what I ate. I lost weight too. I was finally happier about my appearance, not completely, but getting there. Problem- college. Watching what you put in your mouth is so hard when you eat at a school cafeteria. You don't know what is going into the food, you don't know the amount of calories. You can try and watch your portions but that one portion could still blow the amount of calories that is recommended. So to truly know what is going into your food, you need to make it. But that can be even more tricky if there is no where to cook, or if you buy a meal plan because you have to. It just really doesn't wor...
